Why do so few women like Tenacious D?
I must be some anomaly or something. My very best friend loves them (but she's a lot like me), but I'm having a major problem finding any other females that like the things I do. I love my guy friends, but I always get the feeling that they're different when I'm not around and it's just them. Plus, they don't like that I beat them in Texas Hold 'Em.

Any cool DUers out there wanna be my friend? Bonus points if you like The Postal Service, Tenacious D, and GTA Vice City.

1. Because their shtick is a parody of metal fans....
..therefore if you were not a metal fan, it would come across more as just kitsch than anything else. But most metal fans were guys. Hence much of the humor might be lost on many women. I know my wife doesn't get them much like she doesn't get Spinal Tap either.

3. Good point.
I don't even like metal, though, but I love Spinal Tap. I guess I must just like "funny".

2. I love Jack Black, and will pretend with glee to like Tenacious D.
I've only heard a few of their songs, and as the other poster said, they're kind of metal inspired.

I do adore to pieces Jack Black, moreso now that I catch him on the set of King Kong....

6. I like them, I think they're hilarious.
The lyrics are mostly a goof, but the songs are musically really well done goofs. I think the problems are that many women aren't into metal, as said before--and also you really need a sense of humor...and an open mind. Something like "F*** her Gently" might be too much for a noble minded gal. I'm not at all noble, so I laugh my butt off. ("Tribute" is my favorite, very much reminding me of Led Zep and Spinal Tap--"Nay We be men!")

7. As long as Mr. Show does it for you, too, sign me up.
I'm also really into film noir, so you'll have to like that, too.

8. Ah, meant to be.
I'm totally enamored with David Cross and all things Mr. Show. I'd like to see more film noir stuff- I went to film school, but I got kinda obsessed with Italian New Wave stuff and missed out on a lot of film noir.

10. The D rawk
I love love love Tenacious D.
The lyrics are hilarious- sometimes downright brilliant.
This summer on a road trip me and 6 other girls were rocking out to the D hysterically laughing.

I loved their HBO show too. Last year I bought the DVD "Tenacious D- The complete Master Works".... so funny.

Best D lyric:

"I think I've got something in my teeth... could ya get it out for me? THAT'S FUCKIN TEAMWORK!"

12. They're jealous that they can't do "cock pushups".
Well...Neither can I, but if I trained, I could probably do ONE, and that's really all you need.
