1. ever been there?
I'm a Mets fan, but the one time I ventured into Yankee Stadium I was absolutely blown away. It's a magnificent ballpark, it really is.

2. I've been there
It's nice once you get into the actual seating area. But the concourse? HORRIBLE. White concrete walls, very little maneuvering room, terrible concessions.

4. I like old stadiums
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 12:39 PM by VermontDem2004
better then these new theme parks that are being built every year, I hate turf, I hate domes, every stadium needs to be an outdoor, natural grass stadium.

3. Yankee Stadium is the center of the baseball universe.
There are many awesome ballparks; Fenway among them, but there is no place like The Stadium.

just any any history or tradition at Yankee Stadium, at least, not like in Fenway or Wrigley.

after they lose in the first round to the A's? I mean, when your fans expect complete futility year after year it's still an accomplishment to make it this far... or am i wrong.

15. Bullshit
Yankee Stadium is OK, but lacks the charm of the smaller ballparks like Fenway. Wrigley Field is awesom also.

The Sox are the best-hitting team and baseball, and just broke the 1927 slugging record set by Murderer's Row (Ruth, Goehrig, etc.).

9. No, lots more than tears
Some very good teams. Some great memories. Great excitement.

There's more to being a baseball fan than pennants flying and monuments in the outfield.

I don't understand why other fans continue to trash talk Red Sox fans who remain loyal to the team. We're like Cubs' fans; we're there every year regardless of how well the team did last year. It takes dedication. I guess some just don't get it.

16. You're really making friends with your immature comments
The Yankees are the best team money can buy. The fans, however, are less than classy. I have been to Yankee stadium dozens of times, and have seen some real Neanderthal behavior-even in the good seats. I have seen outfielders get pelted by batteries, grown women get into drunken fistfights, and an outfielder get a beer poured on his head.

Yes, the Yankees are a real class team.

there are some fans who don't know how to act at a sporting event, you're going to blame the team for that......that's really rational....rose......

17. Don't hate the Playa, hate the game.
Best team money can buy? No free agency in the 20's, 30's 50's, 60's, and very little of it in the 70's. Ask The Rangers what good money does in buying Championships. Or the 90's Marlins(1), or the Diamondbacks(1). No dynasties there. Just win and dismantle.

Yankees win because they have a commitment to winning. They win at all costs. George doesn't look at the spreadsheets, he looks at the trophies. Free Agency didn't buy Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Alfonso Soriano, Andy Pettite, Nick Johnson, or Mariano Rivera: the heart of the team.

18. Yankee Stadium is a palace
I love it there. I am a Red Sox fan...and one cannot love baseball and hate the Yankees simultaneouslt. It's just not possible.

I think Fenway is a Church of Baseball, but I also think Yankee Stadium is a Museum of All Things Good About Baseball. My only quibble is that the guys who run the Jumbotron apparently hate silence. Every spare second in the stadium is filled with dorky little sound effects. It does not cease, and gets annoying after a bit. On that score, Fenway Park has Yankee Stadium beat hands-down. I also think your odds of being closer to the action at Fenway are better, due to the size differences.

31. Noise.
It has taken over baseball. Music is contantly blaring. The only two parks where I've noticed any moments of silence in recent years have been Wrigley and Fenway, and even there such moments are few.

Wrigley was #7

Fenway was #11

Yankee? #21

Full Disclosure: PNC Park was ranked #1, and I'm in Pittsburgh, but what the hell else to Pirates fans have to gloat over?

Man, it was lovely. And something one can't do at Fenway - you can walk all the way around. I thought that was pretty cool.

I'd love to visit Camden Yards and Wrigley.

I'm hoping to be there, too. It'll be great to meet you. I'm pretty sure there's a game during the convention. There'll be some ticket arrangements for delegates.

BTW, do you realize I have never chanted "yankees suck" nor do I own a t-shirt. ;) Just thought I'd mention it.
