I used to take prescription SSRIs. Ask me anything.
I took Seroxat for two months, then Lustral for a year. Then I voluntarily and ahead of time cancelled my prescription.

This was all for clinical depression.

Despite medical help, I now consider myself cured.

Ask me anything.

3. What got you "cured", in your opinion?

5. Well, I altered my situation.
I quit my job and set up on my own. Also, I asked the girl I love to firstly live with me and then to marry me, and she said yes to both. Also, after my doctor had said that I was depressed, the situation had to come out to my family, so I talked with them and their support was wonderful.

I was a young, creative individual being exploited horribly by a magazine company - I worked absurd hours and in foolish conditions. My mental state wasn't great to begin with, and that stress gave me chest pains (at 25!), which sen me to the doctor, who precribed SSRIs.

7. Well congrats
It only makes sense. I've never been on the drugs, but I did once make a huge life/philosophy change, that pretty much stopped my (very bad) depression cold, and things just got better and better from there.

4. Cold Turkey?
My understanding is that you have to stop gradually or something horrible might happen.

6. I was told the same thing.
I just stopped taking them. I felt no ill-effects.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT recommending this as a course of action; everyone is different.
