2. You mean the day my husband ships out?
Yes, you heard it, on the day that Mr. Bush and his fellow Repubs are trippng the light fantastic, my husband and 140 of his fellow Guardsmen will be shipping out to Iraq. Kinda ironic, eh?

What does one wear to such and event when there is so much death, destruction and turmoil? :(

4. I'm sorry to hear that. Very ironic.
I think it looks bad to have a $50M inaugural party for civilians when a war is going on.

When he asks Congress for more money for the war, it looks *really* bad.

12. But didn't you hear?
The theme this year is supporting the troops. It's all about theme, not at all about supporting the troops. It is a travesty just like everything in this damn administration.

I'm very sorry this is happening to you and your husband.

15. Thanks, and
I know all about that theme you are talking about. I've been through the *farewell* program (read: photo op for important people or people who think they are important), and it was all I could do not to :puke: through the whole thing.

Billionaire to Bush: Give Inaugural Funds to Tsunami Victims

Dallas billionaire Mark Cuban has called on President Bush to cancel the lavish inauguration parties planned for later this month and instead donate the money saved - some $40 million - to victims of the Asian tsunami. The owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team won't say how much he has given to the disaster victims, but his Dec. 31 proposal on his Web site has generated controversy - and support - on the Internet. The Presidential Inaugural Committee is raising $30 million to $40 million from private donors and says it doesn't plan to cancel any of the nine inaugural balls or the three so-called "candle light dinners" that donors of $250,000 and $100,000 get with the president and first lady. Mark Cuban says he voted for President Bush. Asked if it was fair to deny Bush supporters a celebration, he replied: "Since when is the level of celebration defined by the amount spent?"

28. I'm trying to decide. Can you guys help me?
Here are the choices:

I don't want to outshine Laura and all the bush women, though. So maybe I better tone it down a bit.

30. Just heard that Laura Bush's
gown will be designed by Oscar de la Renta, and that it will be "Classic".

Let us remember that Oscar was the one who dressed up middle-aged women in candy-colored First Holy Communion dresses back in the '80s.
So "classic" could mean, like, a classic joke.

Thanking Oscar in advance for dark entertainment during these days of horror.
