I can't find my cat - please cheer me up |
|
I have a rotten cold and I feel like crap but I'm worried about the damn cat. He came in and ate this morning at 5 when my hubby went to work but he hasn't been around since which is very unusual - generally, he's in and out all day and driving me nuts. Now that he's not driving me nuts, it's driving me nuts!
I went outside and looked all over the place and called and called but he hasn't shown up. He's very large and healthy, he doesn't go near the road which we're not close to anyway and it would be odd if something got him during the day like this. He's used to being out and he's neutered so he's not out getting pussy .
He's probably just doing cat things somewhere but I'm on pins and needles worrying about him. ~sigh~ Someone say something to cheer me up.

1. Cats are so independent |
|
and hate to be in one place for long. I am sending a good wish that he comes home soon with a big, wicked kitty grin on his face!

I'm wondering if he's pissy because I recently went back to work after being home for a year and waiting on him paw and paw.
Beer's a good idea. Perhaps I'll get sloppy drunk and wander around the neighborhood yelling, "OOPS! OOPS!" which is the cat's name. Give the neighbor's something to gossip about....

5. Check under the porch or deck |

He could be hanging out there, laughing at you everytime you call him....why? Because he can....

15. Could be in the closet when your old man got his coat to go to work! |
|
After getting a full tummy, he may sleep for the rest of the day.

7. When I had a cat who went outside, he would do this too- out of the blue. |
|
He'd be in and out constantly, stay in and sleep sleep sleep, then one day he'd go out and come home three days later like nothing happened.
I'm sure he'll be back, he's just enjoying a romp somewhere. I don't blame you for missing him, I would be too. Maybe because you're stuck with the cold, you're noticing it more than you normally might.
I'm sure he's fine.

10. You're probably right |
|
I'm no doubt noticing his absence more because I feel so lousy. Darn cats! They drive you crazy when they're underfoot and they drive you even crazier when they're not. :silly:

Just wait awhile, and he'll be back to annoying you. You could ask your neighbors to keep an eye out for him though. Be sure and let us know when you do find him.

12. I used to have one that would disappear |
|
for a few days then show up. Found out he was living at a neighbor's who lived about 5 miles as the crow flies through the woods/swamp. Didn't know it until one day the neighbor's kid was over (he was a friend of my brother). The kid saw the cat and said "that looks just like our cat". Guess what? It was one and the same. I guess who ever had the best food won him for a week or so.

13. I had one that disappeared for four months and then came |
|
home like nothing was wrong.
I suspect he was living at a neighbor's house, but I never found out for sure.

14. I had a missing kitty thread- he came back. |
|
He was gone for 36 hours after never leaving the front yard. I had written him off as MIA/ dead. He came trotting up to the front door like he has when he had been out for an hour. Cats do this type of thing I guess. Now, if one of my dogs were missing for that long, I would KNOW they were either dead or in big trouble.

17. If he's a regular outdoor cat, I wouldn't worry yet |
|
If he's not back by tomorrow, then worry. Our cats used to stay out for long stretches.
Good luck,

All happy and just as usual. The big dope! I could smother him with kisses for making me worry like that! He smells like the great outdoors and is perfectly fine.
Thank you all for your encouraging words. You were right. God! That's the worst feeling! Almost as bad as when you can't find your child. He is, after all, my child.
And now he's yelling for his dinner. Gotta run....

And now he's driving me batty, coming in here and yelling at me, telling me he needs a drink, and some loving, and to go back out and a catnip mouse and whatever else he can think of!

20. Just for fun, check your closets. |
|
Our boo-boo goes into them when my wife is getting ready to go to work. JUST TONIGHT we found her (the Kitty, that is) in the back bedroom closet - she was there from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM! (poor little boo-boo kitty)
Good luck - he'll be home soon.
