4. They were with the Rebellion, but they killed ewoks as well
My family have always been smart, and pretty keen on making sure that saccharine too-cute characters that are invented purely for marketing potential to children and not for reason of the story, get killed.

9. A relative on my father's side (by marriage)...
was a member of Healers of Various Races Without Borders (HVRWB). The carnage of the battle was horrible - he and his cohorts spent a long time working with the Ewoks helping them recover.
