4. That Rogue bullshit is... bullshit. And Gary Sinise should have been

Wolverine.

Those two things kept me from seeing that film until it was on DVD.
And Hugh did a good job, but the Rogue thing still bothers me a bit. IMO they took the most cinematic, interesting qualities away from her for no reason!

I can't imagine anyone else in the role of Wolverine. Jackman owned that role from the first frame of the first movie.

8. You've got that wrong. First, Rogue had brown hair in the comics

Sometimes she's been drawn with redder hews by lazy artists cause brown is harder to mix than red.

Second she's southern in the movieverse. She just travels to Canada.


But you're right that they needed someone else besides Anna Paquin and she needed to be written closer to the character that started off as a member of the brotherhood in the comics.

but it was kind of "yeah, the screenwriter knows she's southern, but for some completely unknown reason we sent her away from the south to Canada." I think Paquin's accent drops considerably too IIRC.

The character just seems completely different.

I've only ever seen the redder color! I need to look again, maybe my memory's off.

Hmm--what you're proving to me is that perhaps I had an even more idealized version of Rogue than Marvel did!

11. Jaime Pressly would have been awesome if she was a few years younger

I read somewhere Rachael Leigh Cook was also auditioned for the part, but Singer chose Paquin cause he wanted someone who didn't look like she could be a model, just an average kid. Cook is just as unRogue like in terms of her timid personality and short stature though.

7. I agree with you about Rogue and other stuff, although nothing could have

kept me out of the theaters.

They made a character Wolverine, who's supposed to be a short ugly jacked guy be played by a uber-handsome leading-man type who used to be called "stringbean" cause he's naturally tall and lanky.

And Rogue, who's supposed to be a feisty sexy tall and powerful, HOT firecracker, is played by a frumpy(by hollywood standards), short and unimposing, and she plays her as a mopey, scared, helpless runaway without an asskicking bone in her body.

But I guess Singer wanted to fuse her with the other token young girl characters in the X-Men lore like Kitty Pryde.

Maybe she'll suck up Pheonix's power in X-Men 3 and get strength power and flight permanantly.

10. I saw Hugh Jackman before the movie, and I was very confused.

You completely covered it for me, as far as those two--I've been saying it pretty badly.

I do think the film is pretty good. But to me, the ideas in the comics are so relevant--Magneto's background and how he chose his path, the whole good/bad mutant thing, learning to cope with what makes you special, even if it sucks...I think it got lost somewhere in the action and fun of it all.

Plus, I miss Gambit and kind of wish they explored the Wolverine/Storm thing... (I think there was a thing, you know more than me!)

Jackman did a good job, though he's too tall.

13. I don't think either of them are ideal. Senise is a tad older looking than

what I see as the ideal for Wolvie, despite him being maybe centuries old. He also looks more froggy or turtelish than feral.

The one thing Jackman has is that nose that fits the character nicely.

But he's probably too warm and gentle a guy to really be a faithful Wolvie even at his best performance.
