5. Only AAR when I can. Some baseball games.
Crappy music, C&W, Pop, and canned "classic rock". Or RW hate stations, keep me away from radio. I listen to AAR or the Padre games. Thats it. The rest of it sucks!

11. Same here. Randi on the commute home
every afternoon, and Malloy as a bedtime story. His rage is strangely soothing in the world of the media's spotless mind.

7. Lots of Shortwave.
BBC, CBC, Deutsche Welle, R. Nederland, R. Sweden, R. China Int., NHK, R. Habana...

And NPR and CBS. NPR is SOOO funny! Bunch of Corporate Whores, like that "commentary" I caught about "Why can't I have Vioxx? Isn't it up to my doctor and me to decide what I'll do to avoid pain?????"

10. I only listen to Howard Stern, AAR and Sports Talk.
Commercial radio for music sucks in Philly.

Our Air America station is on a terribly weak signal and we only get 2 shows, Al Franken and Randi Rhodes, but it's better than not getting it at all.

13. NPR wakes me up in the morning, and keeps me company
in the car.

On the weekends I have it on all day, if I am not pursuing other forms of media, and if I am home from work for the day I usually have it on then as well.

If what is on NPR doesn't interest me I listen to the local classical station usually, or once in a while the soft jazz station.

I love Prairie Home Companion, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, The Car Guys, Whaddya Know (not much, you?, Diane Rehm, and Fresh Air.

Our local station also has a fab talk show host daily from noon til 2.

14. Pirate radio rocks!

I'm listening right now.

We supposedly have three (3) pirate radio stations in San Diego, but I can only pull in two of them.

The one I'm listening to now, 106.9 FM, radioactive radio, just played an anti-NAFTA song, an anti-war song, and a bunch of other cool stuff. The other one, 96.9 FM, free radio San Diego, is good too. They also air Democracy Now. Occasionally I tune to AM to listen to Randi, but mostly I stick to the pirate stations. No ads, no crap--all revolution all the time.

But I don't leave it on all day. 5 to 10 hours a day is my max.

And pirate radio has songs you won't hear on PBS, like "Fuck the FCC." Actually there are several songs with that basic lyric or message. And I like them all.

15. KLSD 1360 AM in San Diego, California...
...Air America Radio Affiliate. I wake up with Stacy Taylor, he drives me to work, and I drive home through horrific San Diego Traffic with Randi Rhodes.
