Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 11:29 PM by shraby
about 100 feet from my mother's house. There was my kids (4), my brother's (2), my mother's (4), my mother, my husband, my 2 sis in law there. It was dark and the kids were all outside playing and came running in to get the binoculars to look at the airplane. By that time it had come around the house and hung by the apple orchard just outside the patio door. We got the binoculars and all stood at the windows in the door looking at it, sharing the binocs. It hung there for probably 5 minutes or more then left. It was about tree-top level and made no noise. It had lights on in it but we couldn't see in. It wasn't a helicopter because it made no noise.

27. True, you didn't
but that leap is often made.

I know this guy who saw a "UFO." He saw something and then had this amazing epiphany. The beings inside communicated with him in his dreams. They told him things, important things, powerful things. Poor aliens. They told the wrong person. He hasn't been able to follow through on any of their requests.

I think it was back when he was in the Air Force. Can't remember all of the details, but I think it involved very fast moving lights, faster than any known object could fly.

22. All the time...
I watch the sky pretty regularly and see all kinds of things I can't identify right off the bat. Sometimes it will be a satellite, sometimes a plane, sometimes a helicopter. Most of the time, I never identify it, so I just say it's a UFO.

About 1982. I was dropping my girlfriend off at her house after school. It was a disc-shaped object with three lights on the bottom. I think they were red, blue, and green. It hovered a couple of hundred feet overhead for a few seconds, then "whoosh" it was gone almost instantly. Pretty damn cool, but I have no idea what it was.

26. Yep, off Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station. Neighbor civilian contractor there
was just getting home, about 8 hours late, as I was out looking at some pretty fancy flying. He looked at me, looked up at the light moving like no plane can, looked down and said "I don't wanna talk about it. Need scotch." And he shuffled off.

I watched for another hour as the light ran some fighter pilots through their paces.

PT Mugu did telemetry for many satellites at that time.

30. UFO
When I was in 9th grade a friend of mine and I saw something that I cannot explain. One Saturday night in early April, 1967 my best friend and I were walking from my house to her house. She had been given permission to sleep over and we were going down to her house to get her stuff. We were going to stop in at church and go to confession and call my mom when we got to her house so my mom could pick us up. I had my just turned 2 years old German Shepherd with me. We did the confession thing, walked through the main street of our town, stopping to talk to a few of our friends at the pizza parlor and then crossed behind one of the two elementary schools to an unpaved cross street that would take up to the road my friend lived on when something made me look to my left. Hovering about 100 feet up and about 200 yards away was a dumbbell-shaped object. It looked like it was made up of lattice work beams with small bright lights in the center of each of the cross-pieces. I called my friend's attention to it and we watched it for about 20-25 seconds. It made no sounds and we were close enough that had it been something conventional, like a helicopter, the mechanical noise would have been readily heard. Then I realized that my dog, who normally was not afraid of anything, was whining and trying to dig himself a hole in the side of the road. That scared us and we the block and a half to her house. When we looked back, the object was gone.

Fast forward 3 years. I was at another friend's house one evening the summer after high school graduation. Her parents, both pharmacists, loved having their daughter's friends over and were very easy and fun to talk with. That evening we had enjoyed their pool and were relaxing with sodas when the topic of UFOs came up. Her parents recounted how about 3 years before, one Saturday night in early April they were returning to their house on a street which dead ended into the playground of the other elementary school in town (which is not that far from the elementary school where I saw the object hovering). They saw what they thought was a small plane making an emergency landing on the playground. The father, Al, jumped out of the car and ran toward the object because he figured someone was in medical distress and he had first aid training. He called back to his wife to call the police. He said that he got onto the playground and was closing in on the object when he realized it was not a small plane at all but a dumbbell shaped craft with lights on it, and it wasn't making a sound. So he reversed directions and got the hell out of there.

I should add that even though I was only 14 at the time, I had been on airplanes, both jets and prop planes, and had an interest in World War II and later aviation, so I knew what conventional aircraft looked and sounded like.

I don't know what it was, nor were my friend's parents able to positively ID it (he had been in the military as a young man), so for me it was an unidentified flying object.

31. Seven lights in a V-shape
Similar to what is shown here:
http://www.dudeman.net/siriusly/ufo/sight.shtml

I was standing on my deck with two friends. We were not sober so when we started to see this it was like, 'um, do you see anything unsual?'

Couldn't see any structure to it, just seven whitish blue lights. Watched for about 3 minutes. It made no noise and moved too slowly to be glider or aircraft. Plus it/they broke formation and then came back into the same shape. This was just after sundown in Los Angeles. Not ready to say visitors but don't know what it was.

No bullshit. It was right over my neighborhood in a populated area. It made no noise and was very fast. I didn't know that there were pictures of it out there and that others had seen it as well.

Weird.

32. well sort of
I saw a V formation of about a dozen or so saucer-shaped craft overhead in the night sky.

Then they started talking, and I realized it was geese with just their bellies reflecting light from somewhere.

But the optical illusion was uncanny, and if geese could keep their beaks shut, they could really raise havoc with people's mental state.

35. Yes, I saw one with about 15 people.
It was night and this silvery cigar shaped craft was bottom lit as it slowly cruised over a well lit dairy. To be honest, it looked like someone was cruising along in the Goodyear blimp at 200 feet, without running lights, in the middle of the night. I know it wasn't because there were no blimps in the sky that day (I checked), blimps don't typically fly at night, they NEVER cruise that low, and never without running lights.

About 15 people, including people at the dairy who watched it cruise directly overhead (I was about a half mile away on the road), saw it, and nobody had any idea what it was. I won't claim that it was alien, but it was certainly unidentified, everyone agreed that it was flying, and it was probably an object (though the airport showed no hits on their radar).

In the article that ran in our local paper about it two days later, and "expert" declared that we were seeing light reflecting off an unusually dense and low cloud formation, but I don't think that anyone who saw it bought that story for one second. We were looking at a solid surface, not a cloud.

43. there are lots and lots of clear pix of UFOs
Google is your friend. You can decide for yourself which images are valid and which are not, there are too many to sort through!

Many of the "in formation" photos show what I saw in my "goose" post. I guess the camera, as well as the eye, can be fooled.

But the photos are out there.

A million people in Mexico City saw the UFOs in the mid 1990s and many took photographs and movies. I haven't heard "where are the pictures?" since the late 1980s. You could probably build a pyramid out of all the pictures.

There used to be a famous picture of the UFOs seen over Washington, DC in the 1950s. They were classic saucers in formation, and they have been attributed to "temperature inversions," but they made nice classic saucers whatever they may have been. Alas, can't find the image online at the moment. Maybe later.

44. I've seen those Mexico City videos
and they convinced me there was something to the whole thing, whereas my own sighting did not because it happened so fast. But those videos are clear as day, and even the Mexican air force admitted that UFO's are real after that. As to what they are, who knows? But it's not just bunk.
