6. A combination of two reasons.

One, the trauma of the election made me decide to take a break away from politics after a while, and I didn't want to deal with the mood on DU in the aftermath.

And two, I'd been paying so much attention to the election that I didn't focus as much on my schoolwork as I should have. After the election, I focused all my energy on getting through the semester. (I'm a student at City College in San Francisco.)

Could you clarify? Do you mean you're also returning from hiatus today? Or were you returning from a hiatus that was brought on by a certain event on a particular day, like I was?

...just because after the election, I retreated even further into the isolated bubble of being a college student trying to survive some truly painful calculus and physics courses.

And that probably won't get any better this coming semester, because I'll be continuing on with both of those courses AND taking a discrete math class as well. x(
