Was it me or was there a subtle anti-Bush slap on Sci-Fi last night? |
|
On & Off, I was watching a show last night on the Sci-Fi channel called "Rage against the Machines" about the potential evils of modern technology...
They had some scientist on saying that if such-and-such tech fell into the hands of evil, we'd be in a lot of trouble (or something like that, only more eloquent) - and, then when the guy said evil, they gave us a shot of 3 white men, with one in a cowboy hat? I immediately thought Bush/Texas when I saw the cowboy hat, then said, maybe Enron & Ken Lay?

2. It was some good tinfoil-hat stuff before Battlestar Gallactica |
|
I figured it was a good introductory bit to put on before the re-broadcast of their Battlestar Galactica miniseries.
If you think about the themes of BC (superhuman androids turning against their human masters) and the themes of the show (superhuman androids turning against their human masters), it made perfect sense.
Too bad the BC miniseries is kinda lame.

3. I didn't like the miniseries that much, but... |
|
But, I've heard the Battlestar Galactica series starting Friday night is supposed to be very good, at least from the reviews on AICN.
the nanotech stuff seems to have so much potential, both for good and for abuse.

I may just give it a shot Friday night, after all, if my wife will let me have the remote.
My main beef with the miniseries was with some of the technology-- like the "no networks" rule on the Gallactica. I work in computers/networking, and it's damn near impossible to do ANYTHING at all these days without some sort of network. Cords on the phones will protect us from a rogue element? Give me a bleepin break!
It's going to be weird without the crappy-looking roboto-cylons like they had in the original, though. Still it's worth at least one or two episodes.

what I did not like was when they killed the baby in the beginning, and later with that young girl by herself in the left behind ship that got nuked. I thought it was gratuitous and not necessary.
