I know WHY a sitting president is inaugurated again.
So the travel and tourism industries in this town can make a killing. I've spent most of the day trying to find a single limousine for clients coming into town for The Great Farce & Clown Show next week. Limos are hard to find, and when I do find one I am told "we have our inaugural rates (!) in place."

Prices for a stretch limo run from $3200 - $4200. Average 30 hour minimum. Prices for a luxury SUV (which I've just learned is unacceptable) from $1100 - $2500. Same deal on the minimum number of hours. (It's needed for about eight.)

There must be something in the city's charter requiring inauguration for sitting presidents, so these industries don't "suffer."

DAMNED GOUGERS!

1. Everyone's in line...
with pocketbooks outstretched..."Where's mine?"

5. Exactly. And you know all those finely-dressed partygoers
will just step over the homeless who don't even have pocketbooks to reach out with. That is, if the DC cops don't do a sweep and dump them all in Maryland.

4. Yeah, anyone who hasn't booked things in DC for next week already
is totally fucked.

In fact, you probably should've made your plans directly after election day.

6. Actually right now I am the one who is fucked.
It's up to me to make these god damned fucking reservations because of another's procrastination.

(I'm sure you mean "you probably should've made your plans" generically...)

8. Yeah, I meant the person you're planning for.
And they SHOULD understand it's probably the toughest day to do anything in DC EVER (higher than other inaugurations because of the increased security bullshit).
