How about a copycat threads group?

This way those of you that love them and want them to run their course can take it to a specific forum and have your fun without encroachment?

I mean...we have religious groups so that they may participate in an unfettered manner...why not just ask for a copycat group?

to incessant copycats. if you'll look through the pages, copycats don't make up even the majority of threads on any of the pages. there are plenty of other threads; why not pick on the endless kitten/dog threads instead? some people find their gratification in some places, others find it in other places. who's to say one is better than the other? i personally find kitten threads to be nauseating, but i'm not advocating for the removal of the thousands of kitten threads that come up. i don't know, maybe i'm getting all worked up over nothing :shrug:

The problem is that after that point, it completely crowds out everyone else and your defensiveness of the issue without even considering ANYONE else is an insult as well.

on edit: I've never seen one kitten thread turn into 7 pages of kitten threads as did the Kleeb threads except by people obsessively, compulsively copycatting it.

i know that this is obvious, but humor is totally subjective:D a lot of people find copycats to be hilarious, and a lot hate them. hell, i even ran a poll on them two months ago, and it ended at almost 50/50. i think they're harmless, and that the lounge is the lounge (and not GD) and hence by definition should not be taken seriously, but those are only my thoughts and are not worth any more than anyone else's :hi:

A small few are actually funny. If they didn't clutter up and take over the lounge, they'd be fine. When I could ignore threads it was no problem. But, excess copycat threads are annoying. To a great many people at DU. We aren't lounge nannies. No one is being unreasonable.

CAVEAT- I understand your frustration over the Keph thread, but high traffic may yield numerous posts, not all of them copycats.

27. Here's a compromise idea...they start in the Lounge, but

a mod- a very dedicated, probably underappreciated and overworked mod- moves them over to a separate forum after a couple of minutes.

The problem is that it ruins copy-cats if you have to actually post them in a different forum. This way, people will at least know about them, and can continue the silliness in another forum if they like after the initial "ha ha"...
