I can't believe WHFS is gone.
I found this out in the Maryland forum

Anyone from the Baltimore/DC area will know how huge that is, even if that particular genre isn't their thing. I lived in the area in the 80's through the mid 90's. I even went to several HFStivals. That station was an institution.

1. This will be a relief to restaurant and retail managers, Ha Ha!!
On the big WHFS weekend events, all teenage hired hands either asked off, or called out. Then they'd be out for a few days recovering from their roasted skin!
Lived through many of those weekends!

Hey, did Clear Channel buy them out?

2. Yep. I was one of them.
I can remember getting into it with one of my bosses asking for the time off. I wasn't going to let some crappy retail job get in the way.

No, they're still Infinity. They're just changing the format.

great alternative radio - it was non-commercial and the DJs were volunteeres that played whatever they wanted to - it was way cool.

6. I listened to that station whenever I was in the area
it was truly unique. What a shame.

I'm happy to be streaming another of my favs...WXPN from Philly. Not as varied a format as WHFS was but still great.
