Windows XP...Why can't I "end" processes on Windows Task Manager?
I used to be able to. Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end processes, but now I'm given the message, "The operation could not be coompleted. Access is denied."

I installed anti-spyware software recently, could that be the problem?

5. Better way
I am on XP Pro but you probably will be able to do the same.

Click on Start

Click on All programs

Click on Aminstrator Tools

Click on Serices

you should get a pop-up with all the services in your system.

Find the ones you want to Stop and double click on them and set their startup to inactive.

7. Only "Messenger" is listed, which I already had disabled...
Msn messenger and DCD aren't listed. Thanks though.

8. Please keep them
Your anti-spyware Programs are a MUST have. They do not eat up your memory or resources, The things that eat up your memory and resources are what the Anti-Spyware programs delete.
