"Binmen could give life-saving treatment to heart attack patients in a rural area of England.

Crews would carry defibrillators, machines which give electric shocks, under the plan being considered by Staffordshire Moorlands Council.

The scheme, backed by the ambulance service, has been proposed as using a defibrillator within four minutes of a heart attack increases survival by 80%...

Council leader Ron Locker said it was a great idea and could save lives. "The binmen are very much up for the idea. It is a rural area and, therefore, it is not always possible for ambulance crews to reach patients within four minutes. "

5. Why? It's not as if their vehicles are top speed

and they're only likely to be in any one area once a week. It would make more sense if it was the postmen - at least everyone gets a potential visit from them once a day. And their vans can probably top 30mph.
