Poll question: What breakfast meat goes with pancakes? |
|
This is a debate of great importance in the Beast Man household. I say pancakes must always be served with sausage; my wife begs to differ and prefers bacon. Who wins this great morning meal struggle? p.s. I'm throwing ham into the mix as well.

Edit: for those questioning souls Rinderwurst is probably the healthiest meat item mentioned in this thread, made out of roast beef, oatmeal, and spices. It's a loose-meat sausage, meaning it's one thing us Germans don't grind up and stuff in a sausage casing. It's fairly lean protein.

Gotta be pork...no silly substitutes here.
Mind you...bacon and eggs is good too. But with pancakes...it's GOTTA be sausage. :)

I'm on a low-fat diet so I must limit my sausage intake. I like the vegetarian sausage links by Morningstar Farm. Quite tasty with pancakes or waffles.
edit: Does anyone else like syrup on their sausage? MMMM!

27. That was the first thing I thought of |
|
The links/syrup synergy is why sausage is the required pancake accompaniment (other meats are acceptable and desirable in addition to, but not instead, of sausage)...

14. Both are good with excess syrup, but sausage is slightly better. |
|
Now, if the pancakes comes with eggs, too, then one must have both meats.

just like Elvis. http://www.allguinness.com/steamedrice/000294.htmlElvis loved bacon so much, he was said to have kept a bowl of crispy pieces on his piano for munching purposes.

How can anyone use anything but real maple syrup on pancakes, waffles or french toast? The fake stuff is an abomination!

26. Tell the Missus that I vote for sausage. |
|
Actually, we usually don't serve meat with pancakes. We serve Morningstar Farms Breakfast Patties, which taste just like sausage, except no meat.
When we DO use real sausage, I like a good spicy variety.
But not bacon! Not with pancakes.
