Cheesecake. Why is the word "cake" used when it's clearly a pie? |

6. Most pies have a double crust and filling |
|
but, imo, the density, size and shape of cheesecake makes it worthy of cake status.
I love cheesecake but it does not love me.

10. There's a bit of history to this: |
|
Two rival bakers in New York city in the 19th century were commissioned by Boss Tweed to make a dessert using cream cheese. One baker specialized in pies, the other in cake. Well, the piemaker made the superior product, but the cakemaker stole the recipe and dubbed it "cheesecake," much to the delight of Boss Tweed.
Beware the B.S. Man :D

Not a Cake...not a pie... Just shaped like one or the other depending on who's making it.
:)
Like the cheese, it stands alone.
