6. I'm studying supply chain management
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 01:30 PM by da_chimperor
I'm getting pretty good at it, but I'll be pulling an all-nighter to finish a 10 page case study. It's easy . . . and kinda fun, but time consuming.

23. Its for all geometric shapes
Circumference is just the size of the shape's boundary.

For a circle it Pi * diameter.
For a square it's 4 * s, where s is a side, etc.

14. You work in logistics?
I've gotta say that i've got tons of respect for the people who do this shit. It's so important and many people don't realize what goes in to getting products and materials from a to b.

17. more or less
I work for a shipping company, anyway. We don't do the intermodal part, just the ocean-crossing, but the ones who have to deal with logistics sit rather close to me

24. I can understand them flipping out. One too many f'd up shipments . . .
can mean the customer tells you to go to hell, and then finds another transportation company . . . unless yours is a rather large and beefy one which no well positioned direct competitors. Some earplugs may be in order for you.

26. we are rather big & beefy, a global company
but they treat every bill like it's the only one they have, and I can just hear the blood-pressure rising all the time

fortunately, I'm in IT and don't have to deal with any of that :D

12. I'm allowed at least 1 break every 6 hours
that and i'm going to ace this report. The professor values quality over quantity, and it's only 10 pages. :D

21. I dropped out of college because
I couldn't write any paper longer than 8 pages, and that was puching it with a lot of filler thrown in there. I could write a quality 5 page paper and that was about it.

So when you say it's only 10 pages it makes me wonder what you consider a hard paper!

28. Hard . . . . ehhh, I've had to do a 20-pager that was a pain in the ass
but still manageable. Hard starts at about the 40-page mark for me. I had to do one of those, and I did nothing fun at all for about 3 weeks. I can do a 10 page paper on just about any subject in between 24 (if it's an English paper) - 72 (philosophy, or anything requiring lots of reading) hours, either because the paper requires you to be specific and in-depth on a limited topic, or because it requires you to be very broad and general over a wider subject or series of subjects. I'm great at pulling all nighters, so that helps as well. :D

18. Well, interpreting more supply as a higher inventory level . . .
it all depends. It may benefit the end consumer by having lower inventory levels as a result of less lead time on inbound materials/products (meaning a more flexible system overall) and shorter order cycles resulting in quicker delivery, but that's only if there is an overall cost savings at an acceptable level of business activity. The end cost savings resulting in a lower price for the end user. Or it may not. Or something like that. I've still got plenty of time to go over my stuff again.
