Drum n Bass - Why god why??
How did this music ever catch on? And who in gods name can stand it for more than 2 minutes...every single song is absolutely the same! I have friends who will only listen to drum n bass...and I can only think that the part of their brain that recognizes monotony and creativity has totally malfunctioned.

If you listen to this type of music, i appologize for your illness.

1. Is that what they're calling it this month?
I remember when it was called "Techno." For a while they called it "Jungle:" remember that? I think the new name is "IDM" or "Glitch."

Different names for the same old crap.

9. Don't forget: Goa, Hard Trance, Psytrance, Triphop,
Happy Hardcore, Big Beat, Funky Breaks, Dub, Illient, Garage, Two-Step, Detroit, Chicago House, Acid House, ad nauseam. The whole reason why I never got into the dancier aspect of electronic music is because I couldn't memorize all the fucking sublabels.

3. Most sub-genre's are hard to grasp....
I'm with you and I don't understand Drum and Bass. But I'm personally a punk fan and if someone isn't a fan of that music to begin with I don't expect them to pick up on or enjoy the nuances of Garage Punk, Crust Punk, Grindcore, Hardcore, Pop Punk, etc. etc.

So I can only assume it is the same for fans of the electronic music genre.

5. I understand sub-genres
but its basically one freakin song...they should just have one song named Drum n Bass, and people can put it on repeat

6. Yeah, but my point is....
When you're not a fan of or unfamiliar with a particular type of music, it all sounds like one song.

Christ, I'm a fan of certain genres and I can't tell a lot of songs apart.

I agree with you though overall on DNB. I just don't get it.

4. I think it's cool!
But I do like the older "jungle" stuff, like back when they'd have reggae guys toasting over the beats, and the beats were more like an 80bpm beat played in 32nd notes rather than a 160bpm beat.

That having been said, my favorite electronic music is happy hardcore.

7. Well, now one can see the limitless possibilities open to musicians
working in those genres.....:eyes:

All the "electronica" genres ought to just be called "Mmm-ch." 'cuz that's all it is: "mm-ch mm-ch mm-ch mm-ch."

11. I wish it would just die a premature death
theres alot of electronic music thats doing some interesting stuff, but Drum n Bass is a bane and should either evolve into something with musical cred, or die.
