Bush confrontationally pokes finger in face of African American man
...and the photo is from (of ALL places)...drum roll please...THE PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER TEAM Web Site.

http://www.presidentialprayerteam.org/

"Earlier this week, President Bush spoke with Bob McFadden during a discussion about Social Security reform at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., Photo courtesy of the White House."

"As the nation's capital prepares for President Bush's second Inauguration, pray that God will completely surround Washington, D.C. with His protection and care. Pray that everything done will honor the Lord, setting a positive tone for the coming administration. Pray for the President and his team as they make plans for the coming term.

As we count down the remaining days until the elections in Iraq, pray for a quelling of the insurgency and resistance on the part of a small number of Iraqis. Pray for the efforts of both American troops and Iraqi police and security forces that they will succeed in securing the country--particularly the polling sites. Pray that every Iraqi will be able to vote freely and without fear."

1. Did you hear what he said (paraphrased discussion on SSecurity)
"african american males die younger, we have a segment of the population who isn't being served... now they can spend their money any way they want... buying lottery tickets playing dice"

Sometimes I can't believe that the quotes I hear from bush are real.

Watch the Daily show rerun for the accurate clip. it's worse

3. I heard the "die younger" part, but NOT the "lottery tickets and dice"
Sweet Jesus, I know I have no right to expect him to show respect across racial lines (because his insensitivity and spoiled rich boy thuggery is shared with all), but what the hell makes him think he can get away with this kind of racist crap?

Can you imagine if CLINTON made the same remarks?

:grr:

11. Clinton would never make remarks like that,
because Clinton is respectful of people.

4. OMG!!!
Did he really say that? What a fucking idiot.

He should've thrown watermelons and fried chicken in there or something for good measure.

Reminds me of the freeper who said not to bash "homos" on FR. They're bigots without even realizing it.

6. I don't know if I can believe he said that
I know he probably thought that....but I still can't imagine he said "buying lottery tickets, playing dice"
That must be a joke.

8. As much as I despise defending him, he didn't say that.
From the transcript:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/01/20050111-4.html

First he said "I also threw out another interesting idea -- it's certainly not my idea, because others have talked about it, and that is to allow younger workers, on a voluntary basis, to take some of their own money and set it aside in the form of a personal savings account -- a personal savings account which is their own; a personal savings account which would earn a better rate of return than the money -- their money currently held within the Social Security trust; a personal savings account which will compound over time and grow over time; a personal savings account which can't be used to bet on the lottery, or a dice game, or the track. In other words, there will be guidelines. There will be certain -- you won't be allowed just to take that money and dump it somewhere. In other words, there will be a safe way to invest, to be able to realize the compounding rate of interest.

Much later he said:

"Secondly, the interesting -- there's a -- African American males die sooner than other males do, which means the system is inherently unfair to a certain group of people. And that needs to be fixed. It's not a -- (applause.)"

Granted, both statements were inane and stupid, but nowhere near as inflammatory.

14. Look out
New Meme, coming through!

Preznit Dubya:

"...a personal savings account which can't be used to bet on the lottery, or a dice game, or the track."

Preznit of Vice Cheney:

"It's been suggested that many people would spend their retirement in poverty, because the investments they choose will be along the lines of lottery tickets, dice games, and the race tracks."

5. Also on that page:
"Give thanks for the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and pray for the ongoing concerns of civil rights and racial equality in our nation."

For some reason it doesn't matter what he says in unscripted moments, just what he earnestly proclaims from behind the pulpit...uh, podium.

15. African-American males die younger...
when we get a war going. (Like Bush's war). Those African-American males who die in Iraq aren't going to live long enough to get Social Security. Is that fair? No! It's not! Therefore we must destroy Social Security so that no one gets it!!!
