They love it, the kids love it. Just another theme park with rides. Now my sister is a great person, love her to death but, alas, she and her husband, all of his family are freepers. They all go together to Dollywood. She doesn't actually post in Freeper World but they belong to the club nonetheless.
I like Dolly, she is a hoot, just not a fan of theme parks.

7. but I don't believe Dolly is a freeper |

I think she once said when asked about gay marriage something like "I think everyone has the right to be miserable." :P It was pretty funny.

8. Nope, she's not a freeper. |

She's even singing on an album the Human Rights Campaign is putting out. Dolly is one class act! :-)

3. Too many insects there! |

God! Butterflies everywhere! Yuo get a bruise if you hit one on the coaster!
I hear it's a very clean theme park, and she makes regular appearences throughout the summer, and talks to guests like they're neighbors. I always liked her, just hated country music.

10. I visited the park back in May... |
|
It has a nice, family friendly environment. It's also very pretty and well maintained. The staff is excellent.
Most of the rides are geared towards families and kids (some as banal as what you see at a travelling carnival though some are being removed and replaced with better rides this year). However, they do have two very good roller coasters. The new wooden coaster is fantastic and worth the admission price almost on it's own... The coal burning locomotive train is a don't miss. It's one of the few still operating coal trains left in the US.
Several of the park's attractions specialize in the preservation of craftmanship, such as horse drawn carriage making (yes, you can buy one there!), glass blowing, iron smithing, etc. Also the food is very good! The park seems to be pretty popular with the locals, partly I think for the food. I didn't get a sense of it being FreeperWood (ew, that just sounds wrong!), but the vast majority of the park's attendees are white, middle class southern families.
I did get a little annoyed at how much it seems to be a shopping park as much as a theme park. There are *a lot* stores throughout the park. At least I don't have to pay a $45 admission and parking fee to go shopping in a mall... Still, overall it's an enjoyable theme park. I would definitely like to make a return trip sometime soon...
