Its a sharp pain, and like I said, really hurts when there's bright light.

I get treatment from the VA Hospital.
If it's still bothering me tomorrow, I'm going in.
I hate going to that place. Hurry up and wait. Then wait some more. What? you're not done waiting yet??? :D

10. Catwoman, this probably isn't it -- |
|
BUT that sounds exactly like the symptoms my partner was having before she was diagnosed with Optic Neuritis.
Sharp pain behind the eye, quick flashes of light in the corner of her eye, and a sensitivity to light.

|
You need to have your eye looked into by a Dr., soon.

although I have a good friend who does.
They get so bad, they incapacitate her.
And she can't stand bright light, either.

Is there anything wrong with your neck? |
|
Do you wear glasses?
(Those are unrelated questions.)

Some real sleep. I started getting horrible eye pain in one eye in my mid-30s. Then I moved to the coast and the eye pain would come and go with the weather changes. I noticed it more because the weather changes are really quick here, and frequent. Gradually, it's all gone away, ten years later. I did go to the doctor and they didn't find anything. Must have been some hormonal/stress/migraine thing. But you should at least try a good night's sleep because mine were always worse when I hadn't slept enough.

23. Is it your left eye and the left side of your neck? |
|
I had an accident years ago, broke my shoulder and my back. In summary, the problems from my shoulder went through my neck to the muscle leading up behind the eye, and I intermittently lost vision in that eye.
The source of the problem was the neck, not the eye. There was nothing wrong with the eye.
Re reading glasses, they can cause eye pain. If I wear reading glasses for too long, I get pain in my left eye.

icepick and insert it gently through my temple :)
Just kidding, I get headaches like that occasionally, and I've never figured out exactly what causes them, sleep seems to fix them for me, so I've never worried too much about 'em.
on edit: Didn't see the follow-up on flashes of light and whatnot. Get thee to a doctor as soon as you can. That does sound like migraines. There are a LOT of causes of migraine, a doctor could pinpoint it.

Couldn't tell by looking at it; the doctor had to use a magnifier.
Regardless, talk to a professional--which none of us here are.
