Claude Monet as told by my 10 year old
Ok, he was born in like 1843 or 1846 or something like ok? Anyhow he when people like looked at his paintings up close they looked like splotches ok but when you stepped back it all made sense. Oh and he used bright colors when he painted which a lot of those people back then were mad about cuz dark moody colors where what was happening back then. Ok he met this woman name Cornelia and he thought she was just so beautiful and nice that he married her and they some kids, one of them was named John, not like regular like it was spelled Jean, cuz that how the french spell it. Oh yeah and his painting...the japanese foot bridge, thats was in his garden and thats his japanese foot bridge, oh neat is that???

This almost verbatim what my child told me when i picked her up, she also did japense foot bridge. thank goodness they still have art class. Next week...Renoir.

2. very cute
Sounds like she has a good teacher!

My 10-year-old just did his art project on Roy Lichtenstein, and I learned a few things from him. I get the feeling that's going to happen more and more

4. Monet rocks...
I've always been somewhat inspired by Monet, in that some of my paintings tend to have a somewhat abstract quallity...

5. I have a pic of the Japanese foot bridge in my living room.
:-) Your daughter sounds very curious - which is a good thing. A lot of children might have tuned out the art lesson.
