Pick a favorite Beatles song.
If you don't have a favorite Beatles song, or you don't like the Beatles, you have no need to reply, do you?

As a matter of fact, you shouldn't keep reading this.

Go on. Stop reading.

Still reading? Seriously. Stop.

Okay. I think they're gone. Anyway, my favorite at the moment is "Across the Universe."

11. "I'll Be Back"
It's very hard to pick a favorite Beatles song since I love pretty much all of them, and have had probably a couple dozen as "favorites" sometime in my life so far, but I'll go with this one for the moment.

I just love the "feel" to it, the intensity, especially in the middle eight, and I like the lyrics.

FWIW, the Buckinghams (Chicago pop-rock group that used a lot of horns) do a great cover of this one on their second album.

"Across the Universe."
Yes mine too. I like Fiona Apple's version -- so dreamy, innocent and magical yet so simple.

The rest of Beatles stuff depresses me and I do not know why.

21. A Day in the Life
The protagonist in "A Day In The Life" is bombarded by media - film, newspapers, probably TV and radio as well - but can't connect to any tragedy reported therein. Either the subject is utter puerility (the holes in the road in Blackburn) or high misfortune (a young gent who had everything, now dead from a car wreck) or blackest commentary (the compulsion to watch the filmic horrors of wartime when everyone else is repulsed). How can one make sense of all this? How can life force us to pick and choose what matters, when it cajoles us relentlessly with images of unutterable senselessness and pain?

26. Good Choice!
I sang it to my then girlfriend shortly before proposing, at a windswept scenic turnout high upon the Big Horn Mountains.

I guess my favorite right now is "I'm So Tired" ... constantly popping into my head for some reason

It kind of sucks, but goddam if great production and great singing don't save that piece of shit.

31. One of the first uses of electric piano by the Fabs.
It's a simple part - played by Lennon, IIRC - but it really propels the song forward.
