Welcome my son Welcome to the machine Where have you been? It's alright we know where you've been You've been in the pipeline Filling in time Provided with toys and scouting for boys You brought a guitar to punish your ma And you didn't like school And you know you're nobody's fool So welcome to the machine
Welcome my son Welcome to the machine What did you dream? It's alright we told you what to dream You dreamed of a big star He played a mean gituar He always ate in the Steak Bar He loved to drive in his Jaguar So welcome to the Machine

Pink Floyd was the cool of the cool, the 'bad' of the 'bad'. They totally rocked, especially if you had headphones. I might/could add obvious drugs to the equation, but having done the drugs, I still think they are fabulous to this day without them! Ditto totally w/Queen. What can I say? I loved Freddy, the group, the sound, and their legacy.

8. My favorite Pink Floyd album!! |
|
I was driving one night in upstate NY at about 3:00am -- I was heading to my parents' house for Christmas and was on a lonely, country road and it was dark. I was listening to a radio station from Ottawa, Canada and they played "Animals" -- the whole album. Being on a dark road by yourself, driving through the Adirondacks and listening to Pink Floyd's "Animals"...pretty amazing.
