5. Dude
In the 18th to 19th century, it was a British word used to describe a dandy, a gadfly. It came to be used in the US in terms of a Dude Ranch, but dude in that context signified they were not real cowboys, but posers. Then there is the current usage which you are familiar with, "hey Dude," etc...a kind of colloquial greeting.
I heard Robert McNeil discuss it in terms of his PBS show that ran last week "Do you speak American." He has a book on the same title.

7. Bogart
This is evidently a continuation of your easy rider theme.

bogart
1969, "to keep a joint in your mouth," dangling from the lip like Humphrey Bogart's cigarette in the old movies, instead of passing it on. First attested in "Easy Rider." The word was also used 1960s with notions of "get something by intimidation, be a tough guy."

Here is what the etymological dictionary says about Dude:

1883, "fastidious man," New York City slang of unknown origin. The vogue word of 1883, originally used in ref. to the devotees of the "aesthetic" craze, later applied to city slickers, especially Easterners vacationing in the West (dude ranch first recorded 1921). Surfer slang application to any male is first recorded c.1970. Female form dudine (1883) has precedence over dudess (1885).

8. so maybe using Dude is appropriating the oppressor's language?
Similar to 'Queer' in the Gay community, or how some African-Americans wiew use of the N word?

But only now, it's with hippies.
