Prince Charles orders Harry to visit Auschwitz
Britain's Prince Charles has ordered his son Harry to visit Auschwitz after he caused outrage around the world by wearing a Nazi uniform to a party, the Sun newspaper has reported.

The paper said heir-to-the-throne Charles was "incandescent with rage" with the 20-year-old grandson of Queen Elizabeth and wants him to make a private trip to the concentration camp to learn more about the Holocaust.

Jewish groups had demanded Harry go the camp in southwest Poland to make amends for wearing a swastika armband and an army shirt with Nazi regalia at a costume party on Saturday.

12. I Know my history, and the Hanovers weren't Nazis
Kind of a little before Hitler's time. And, George III considered himself an Englishman. And Harry's grandparents, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth do have some German blood, but served England country during WWII, Philip in the Royal Navy, the Queen in the ATS.

And, my several German friends aren't either.

Stereotypes are not any acceptable coming from a liberal.

2. Welcome to parenting Charles.....
I doubt it was Charles who actually came up with the idea. It probably was the Muse.

7. Here ya go......
Essentially, I sense Charles had advisors on this issue and was told this would be the correct action....

Muse (myz)
n.
1. Greek Mythology Any of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, each of whom presided over a different art or science.
2. muse
a. A guiding spirit.
b. A source of inspiration.
3. muse A poet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Word History: The Muse has inspired English poetry since Chaucer invoked her in 1374. Muse comes from Latin Msa, from Greek Mousa. There are Greek dialect forms msa and moisa, and all three come from an original *montya. As to the further origins of this form, a clue is provided by the name of Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory and mother of the Muses. Her name is the Greek noun mnmosun "memory," which comes from *mn-, an extended form of the Greek and Indo-European root *men-, "to think." This is the root from which we derive amnesia (from Greek), mental (from Latin), and mind (from Germanic). The reconstructed form *montya that is the ancestor of Greek Mousa could then mean something like "having mental power."

8. Ah, OK. I never saw this word used that way.
I thought it was a nickname for a smarter member of the royal family. His sister, maybe.

I like Harry. I went to a gun show once (hated it), but noticed the Nazi paraphenelia everywhere. It made me sick to be amongst the fucking imbreds there.

I think the fact that Harry felt comfortable enough to wear what he did in public is a sign that maybe we need to make sure the younger generation is taught the horrors of the Holocaust. The flippant attitude that allowed him to put on the Nazi gear is disturbing. He's young and careless now, but I believe he'll grow up to be a fine man.

However, there are grown adults in my own country who have no problem with the senseless massacring and torturing we are doing in Iraq, which is even more disturbing than a young barely-adult doing something as stupid and thoughtless as wearing the swastika with all that it means. Harry will learn, but I fear the willfully ignorant dumb asses in America are doomed to continue being ignorant dumb asses, slapping flags on their cars as if they were swastikas.

11. Not the first time sweet Harry has done a faux pas
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 09:37 AM by catgirl
he recently made the news during a trip to Africa, I believe. He
went on a "hunting" trip and killed a deer with a bow and arrow.
The problem is, the deer, which was a domesticated miniature
deer, had no fear of humans and therefore didn't try to flee
(and was penned). Harry just walked up to this docile deer
and plunged the arrow in (which is controversial in its own right).

What was supposed to be a great photo op turned out to be
a great faux pas instead. His true colors have been emerging
and this latest incident doesn't surprise me. I'm sure Diana is
turning in her grave. Harry is not a very compassionate
person and I think there will be more antics to come.

17. Symbols have meaning -
especially for people who have been bombed by those wearing the Nazi uniform. Britain's existence today can be attributed to its collective resistance to all things 'Nazi'. For a symbol of Britain, a "royal", to embrace Nazism as a token of jest, is a betrayal and affront to all British. A 20 year old man, who has been schooled since birth of his royal privilege, must make penance. The Queen and the Prime Minister should apologize on his behalf and dictate the future path of this misguided heir.
