Holy cow -- The Stomach Flu!!!!
It came on like gangbusters yesterday evening around 8:00 p.m. Now it's nearly 6:00 a.m., and I'm still beating a trail to the bathroom.

Fever, chills, chattering teeth, deep-dish nausea (and I'll stop there). There were a couple of near-pass-out moments earlier that were like a preview of death. My wife wanted to take me to the ER, and I almost took her up on it. The worst seems to have passed, though. (No pun.)

Anyone else been visited by this hellish bug? You have my sincere sympathy if you have!

1. There is nothing worse than a bad case of stomach flu.
Been there quite a few times myself. Try drinking warm Coke or Pepsi. It always works for me. I think it's got something to do with the potassium in it.

Good luck and here's a:hug: for ya!!!

2. On the bright side...
It goes away as quickly as it arrives. I had it last month--it was a near-death experience but two days later I was back to myself again. When you can keep something down, try a sports drink.

9. Good news about the short-lived bug. Will give the sports drink a try.
There's a food mart nearby, and my wife will pick some up. Right now, I could drink a river, but caution is the order.

3. "Winter vomiting disease"
Today's WashPost reported this charming bug is breaking out in parts of Virginia. It's a norovirus, same kind of thing that sometimes breaks out on cruise ships. Sudden and intense. Perhaps that's what you're experiencing.

Oh, if ONLY it would strike Washington DC on January 20! What a fun thing for the Coronation! Imagine B*sh, Laura and all those mink-wrapped Repukes whoopsing in unison! A barf-out at every coronation ball!

:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

5. I feel for you.
The worst part, well other than the obvious, is just as you get comfortable in bed and think you're going to rest awhile here comes the next round.

Sip fluids (not full swallows or gulps) for the next few hours.

8. Thanks, peekaloo, I am busy sipping -- and cautiously, too.
I'm thirsty as all get-out now for obvious reasons, but I'm taking it slowly!

10. My sympathies
I haven't had it yet this year and hope I don't. I usually get one like that when I don't get a flu shot (and of course I didn't get one this year).

11. I had it over Christmas.
At first, you're afraid you'll die, and then you're afraid you wont. On the plus side, it should pass in about 24-48 hours.

12. Aww Im sorry you are ill.Try some ginger root
If you do not have ginger then peppermint is really good for nausea.
Black licorice is also good for nausea.
A big hug from the rhino clan.
