Dennis Miller's Joyless job on MSNBC
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 10:00 AM by IanDB1
Dennis Miller had a NASA spokesperson from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on his show last night.

At the end of the interview, Dennis said to him something to the effect of, "It is rare and wonderful to find someone who takes such joy and pleasure in what they do for work."

You know what?

I vaguely remember someone like that.

His name was "Dennis Miller."

I wonder what ever happened to that guy?

1. Sob.
I wish I had my old job back.

At my current salary and location, of course.

4. He has never been very funny
His job at SNL was reading the news. That's pretty much all he did and he wasn't very good at it. His big gig was HBO. I think pretty liked is cracking wise snide attitude. But face it. The rant segment always came up short and guests were well just like all the other shows out there. The only think I found funny were the phone-ins because for the most part either they bombed so bad it was hilarious or the callers made snide back at Miller. And now he's a shill because their is money with the lemmings in tow. He is a perfect example of no talent getting somewhere ala Ashley Simpson.

5. gotta disagree strongly.
I always used to find him pretty funny-

EXCEPT-

I started noticing how whenever he would do talk shows, like Leno or Letterman, he'd never actually answer any questions- he'd just use a line from his act that was kinda close to the topic of the question- it was a lot like the way that * acts in a press conference.

6. Think he would've learned something from P.J. O'Rourke....
Conservatives just aren't amusing, unless you think mean-spirited diatribes are a hoot.

Remember when just being a jerk was enough to be funny?

Dennis sure misses those days.

7. He got older and scared of his own shadow
or else he realized it was easier and more profitable to play to the base emotions of men then actually try to be funny.

8. He is, as they say, "a fallen man". The whole world knows that
he is a political whore. But, he isn't alone, the same can be said for the majority of the talking head news commentators.

9. Dennis Miller? Who's that? *looks in the Used To Be Relevant Handbook* Oh.
I wonder if Dennis has figured out yet that when he was whipping the Reagans, people loved him, and now that he's whoring for Bush, he's virtually dropped off the face of the entertainment planet.

Miller got old, got scared that he couldn't maintain a young audience, so he decided to do what washed up has beens have done since the dawn of modern entertainment. Pander to the dumbest common denominator. Miller used to be one of my primary comedic influences. I considered him to be just one rung below guys like George Carlin. Well, okay, maybe two rungs, but that's just because Carlin has a rung all to himself. Now he's a waste of an obscure reference.
