What is it with people who feel the need to photoshop everything into an exaggeration (or outright lie)?

I thought the first crane falling in was plenty funny, but the second crane was just unbelievable, and apparently for good reason.

The unfortunate thing is that it kills, dare I say MURDERS what humor the story did have.
