TV's Partridge Family was based on the real-life '60s pop group the Cowsills, a family band of mother and children who recorded and toured together. http://www.cduniverse.com/sresult.asp?style=music&HT_SEARCH=XARTIST&HT_SEARCH_INFO=Partridge+Family&altsearch=yes&frm=lk_5113If i am not mistaken, they wanted to cast the Cowsills themselves but that didn't work out so they went Hollywood with it.
