1. I had a childhood friend that became a Doctor
and within a few months of graduation I couldn't stand to even be around him. He turned into a materialistic asshole almost over night. I'm not saying your friend will too, but it's certainly happened before.

2. I think
you would be wise not to generalize. Seeing as docs 4 months out of med school are making $35,000/yr for 120 hours a week, perhaps your friend's transformation has more to do with your friend than with his profession.

19. He made much more than that
But it was after his residency. Somehow he bought in to a practice and was making bank right off the bat. He would not stop talking about all the money he was making. Of course I'm not generalizing the profession as a whole.. Just him.

21. Well, that's different
Residency takes 6-10 years after graduating from med school. No one straight out of school is making any money to speak of--in fact, generally, if you do the math out, per hour, young docs are making under minimum wage.

7. I've got an ex boyfriend like that.
I'm still hornswoggled. No "doctor" in front of his name, but might as well.

He and I broke up and got back together 3 times because he was such a stoner. I loved him, but hated the drugs. We finally broke up a final time, I moved away and finally got my degree.

He got married to some bimbo, went back to school, got a degree, and became some muckity muck for the freaking United Way. This is the guy who couldn't go more than a few hours without a bong.

He wouldn't change for me, but he did it for her. THAT pissed me off. Well, they got divorced and we hooked up a few years ago before I got married and he got married to wife #2.

It gave me a distinct thrill to hear him say how I'd been right, and how he'd been a real asshole to me all that time.

20. You think that's bad?
Try watching your sister, who happens to be eight years younger, get a DR in front of her name. I'm book-ended by doctors, as my older brother is also a doctor.

22. It's even weirder after they've had that Dr. a few years
And they buy a tropical island with a volcano.

And they acquire a large group of token bodyguards.

And they start wearing a monacle + buy a rare and expensive furry cat.

And they end up acquiring a few ICBMs and blow up a few bridges as a "demonstration of power" to the United Nations.
