I met a girl today who said she doesn't believe dinosaurs ever existed...
She's in my World History class this semester. I asked her what her major was; I can't remember what it was, but I don't think it was history or any of the major sciences. I asked her if she studied paleontology on her own, and she said no.
She was about to tell me why she thought so when I was interrupted by a guy who said that the number of people alive today is greater than the number of people who have ever died.

According to www.snopes.com, if we start counting the number of deaths from the time modern humans emerged about 45,000 years ago, the number of people of have died ranges anywhere between 12 Billion to as much as 110 Billion people. Most scholars peg the number of deaths at approximately 60 Billion people. We might never catch up.

Peace,

18. I've heard that too but I don't get it
Why would God play a trick like that? Their view of God is that of an abused child toward the abusive parent. "God treats me bad but he loves me so I guess it's for my own good."

These people need mental health care.

21. If you ever hear it again
ask them if they believe their god is a liar...because that's what that statement makes it.

Watch their heads spin and ears smoke.

29. Not life, just the bones.

Put the bones/fossils/rocks there to fool us. The earth is only 6000 years old, so everything older than that that is unable to be reconciled with the bible is the devil's tool put there to fool us. Supposedly. That would include the 10-billion year old light particles showering down on us from other stars too. Anything that puts into question the literal reading of the bible. God put them there, the devil made it look like he didn't. Hm.

6. i think the "more alive than have ever died" think is true *for america*
due mainly to the massive immigration.

but it's pretty comical to think that it's true for the entire planet. the population would have to consistently double every average human lifetime, with enough population bursts to overcome the massive plagues and disasters....

8. I met a guy who didn't believe in dinosaurs once.
I asked him about all of the skeletons and such, and who had fabircated them all. If they were real or not. At first, he said they were all forgeries to cast doubt on Creationism. Then later he said they were the remnants of the non-descript "beasts" mentioned in Genesis. I was SO CLOSE to getting him to claim they were dragons. Which would have been an amusing statement.

"I don't believe in dinosaurs, but I do believe in dragons."

mythologies to explain them big bones before the rise of modern science.

And dragons are cute... just ask any DnD player...

9. I used to believe there were no dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs were a myth perpetrated by atheists.

Then my sister pointed out to me that all those bones had to come from somewhere.

(I was about 14 years old at the time.)

20. Of course not!
I was taught these things by my Baptist church, politicat, which I have long since left behind along with my crazy notions of where those bones must've come from (one of which was Darwin made them and buried them around the world).

the number of living will NEVER surpass the dead- this planet would have a hard time supporting 60 billion living humans.

16. Hmmm some creationists think dinosaurs walked the earth with us
Which is equally ludicrous.

I am so sick of this argument. I had a great biology teacher who was a devout Christian, and taught evolution.

"If there's one thing an eternal being like God has, it's time..." He made the point that it's huberis to assume God uses our time, rather than his. That shut up the creationists.

Wasn't she allowed to watch the Flintstones when she was growing up? We humans used to keep smaller dinosaurs around the house, much the same way we keep dogs and cats around the house now.

I was always glad to have stupid people in my classes, because my professors graded on a curve. After you get your A and she gets her D, then you can worry about educating her. :-) Yeah, I know, I'm evil.

and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

30. I have a customer who thinks the left behind series is real
and she's one of the saved, which she thinks gives her the right to be a total asshole to those who she thinks won't be saved.

She's so utterly clueless that I wouldn't know where to begin so I'll just end this post now.
