We invented the shit. Why come we no can make it taste good?

PS: By we, I meant, we in the Americas, not we in the US. Just to be clear.

12. it depends
The plant and the beverage (not cacao) are southern American, Cacao is Dutch and modern Chocolate is Swiss.

But I've never had the chocolate by itself. It easily beats Hershey's, but doesn't Hershey's own Cadbury now?

As far as cheap chocolate goes, I really like Lindt Milk Chocolate. I usually buy them when they're on sale.

16. No
Cadbury-Schweppes is AFAIR still an independent company. Their distribution stateside might be courtesy of Hershey.

9. I would have said it's good, but recently had some Belgian chocolate
And it made me realize that what I'd been told was chocolate all these years isn't even close to what real chocolate tastes like.

It's like comparing salisbury steak to real steak.

15. Depends on where you buy it
Cadbury's chocolate is different in different countries. If you're talking Cadbury's in England all right!

17. As long as the test-subject is a Girlfriend/Wife who hasn't had Godiva...
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 05:33 PM by bucknaked
...made the dreadfull mistake of buying my current girlfiend a box of Godiva chocolates once (new boyfriend, wanted to impress her, like many things at the time... all, to my own peril)... and that was enough to convince her.

If I'm ever as unfortunate to be single again... I'm strictly going with Target-bought Halloween candy for sweets.

Hell, come Valentine's Day, I'll spray-paint my old Halloween candy red. :P

Jess' kiddin' DU gals. ;)

18. Anyone who would spend a penny on Godiva is dumber than George Bush.
I'm not a chocolate freak, but I'll be damned if I can taste any difference betweens Godiva and Nestles.

Only an idiot would pay for packaging and a name.

By the way, if you're ever at the Boca Raton Mall in FL, try a chocolate shop called Palm Beach Chocolates. They're outstanding.

Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 06:04 PM by u4ic
oh, about 7-10 years ago...now it's not so good.

I'd say Lindt is the best cheaper/mass marketed chocolate.

Edited: except for Crispy Crunch, I loooooove that bar.

Ritter Sports are square-shaped German chocolate bars, usually with things stirred into them.
