DU/Blog addiction is taking its toll |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 06:05 PM by Stevendsmith
I spend A LOT of time surfing DU and the lefty blogs--and posting on my own blog. Does anyone else find excessive internet use to be a draining experience?
Of course, I know the answer: cut down on this activity. But like any addiction, it's hard to stay away!
I think I'll try to stay off the web for the entire weekend.
On edit: And of course, I'm on the web all day at work--getting nothing done.

2. People joke about this |
|
but I have seriously gotten caught up in it before.
I have stayed up until 5 AM reading DU.
I have been doing other things, going about my life, when suddenly I'll think of something I want to post or I'll want REALLY BADLY to check out LBN.
Again, people do joke. But I think internet addiction is real.
I had to force myself a while back to cut back. It was just getting out of hand, I wasn't getting any sleep. I was doing that on WEEKNIGHTS when I had to get up for work at 6:45.

6. It soothes anxiety, like most addictions. |
|
You start getting nervous about whatever else you're doing, your work, and you know a quick glance at DU will unfray your nerves.
It can be bad. I'd quit, but what else do I have to do?

Before you get started on your computer work, you decide to "quickly check-in" on your fave sites.
Three hours later....
