6. I've always said cookies are the mark of a disciplined cook
because they could actually finish them without eating the cookie dough.

11. It is unsafe to eat raw eggs
Didn't anyone ever tell you that? Salmenella poisioning isn't fun.
Alright, it turns out that it isn't actually that common for any given egg. Still, pregnant women, young children, or the elderly probably shouldn't eat raw cookie dough.

13. Pasteurized Egg Substitute
I use Just the Whites egg substitute if I know we'll be eating the dough. No danger---and cookies are just as good.

12. Cookies. Cookies, cookies, cookies.
I make whole batches of cookies without ever tasting the dough. I actually get the number of cookies the recipe says I should.

My teenager, on the other hand, can eat an entire batch of cookie dough without ever baking a cookie.

14. Whats a matter with you?
You must be an obsessive cookie freak! I can't believe you actually never pilfer a little dough. I am impressed though with your dough measuring ability. I never get the stated amount of cookies from any recipe.

15. I'm neither obsessive nor a freak.
I just prefer cookies to dough.

17. No, but
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 09:36 PM by Left Is Write
I've been making my mother's chocolate chip cookies for nearly 30 years, and experience has taught me a thing or two about what size to make those.

With other recipes, when it says roll into a one-inch ball or something, I'm really good at eyeballing that.

But what I really meant with that post was - I get the number of cookies the recipe is supposed to yield because I don't eat any of the dough.

Edited to add a smiley face :) because I didn't mean that as harshly as it sounded. It was said with a wink.

19. well, don't you have to taste it first, to make sure it is OK?
so you have to eat some dough.

I am 56 and have been eating cookie dough, and cake batter all my life, and I have never gotten anything worse than a little heartburn but definitely no food poisoning.

Choc chip cookie dough rocks
so does oatmeal cookie dough

and chocolate cake batter
