Then let 'em fix it. Hell, make sure they're timely about it and that they do it right. Tenants have rights, too. You shouldn't have to fix it. Period.
Be glad that you have a landlord that'll fix stuff. We used to live in an old, rickety house on top of a hill. The landlord lived right next door, but getting him to come over and fix something was like pulling teeth with a pair of rusty tweezers.
