Ted Nugent to play fund-raiser for Crawford, Texas band

Forget the bake sale. Ted Nugent will be jammin' the gym on Saturday to raise money for a high school band's trip to the presidential inauguration.

Nugent, who recently relocated from Michigan to tiny Crawford, is expected to play old favorites like "Cat Scratch Fever" at a sold-out show at Crawford High School on Saturday night.

The (Formerly) Motor City Madman hopes "Uncle Ted's Barbecue Rhythm and Blues Rock-Out" will allow the Crawford band to go to Washington and see the town's other famous resident — President Bush. For the kids, the fund-raiser is well, cool.

"He's a big celebrity here in town, and we're just so thankful that he's willing to do this and take part in the community," said Katy Pearson, a 17-year-old junior who plays the flute. "We never would have thought that such a small town would not only have a rock star in it, but also a president."

Why isn't he raising money for either the tsunami victims or working poor without health care or adopting orphaned Iraqi children.
