God, I feel like such a loser right now.
I can barely motivate myself to look for a job.

6. i LOVE Odd Todd
That is a hilarious site.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

3. it's Saturday.
Give yourself a break.

You're not a loser.

Many people are in the same situation.

Take a little time to feel good about yourself, then start again on Monday.

4. I took time all week. Actually, I was moping.
I did some political stuff this morning and on Tuesday. The thing is, I can't feel good about myself because the last two years have been horrible and it does not look to get any better.

7. No to sound like a Pollyanna cheerleader...
...but I have found that I can make myself feel better just by deciding that dammit, things HAVE to get better.

I don't know your situation, whether you're currently employed or out of work, but I have always enjoyed reading what you have to say on DU. I believe that you can make things right for yourself.

8. Have you talked to someone about depression?
It can be treated, so there's no reason to be miserable.

9. I know what you mean.
There are two jobs in the paper that I would like and that I'm qualified for.

And I think... why would they hire me? They're going to have 500 applicants each. Why bother?

And the sad part is: I'm not being negative. I'm being totally realistic.

Times are hard! If the damn MSM would only acknowledge this fact, we'd be feeling a little better.

11. I have a BA in Math, but don't want to teach.
I would like to do paid political and government work. I think, especially with my involvment in the Dem party after all that happened last fall with the election but I continue to participate even now and spend so much time on here as if it were my sanctuary, I would like to be able to work for a think tank or a Dem politician.

12. volunteer for one then- if nothing else it....
gets you off the couch and making connections. If you are good enough at it, job offers will come. You may also find you hate it.

But two years with out a job? How are you supporting yourself? Even a crappy part time job will make you feel better, and your support 'people' feel better about you.

There is a time in your life when you learn you can not be the cowboy you wanted to as a child, and must take a job. Jobs suck, that is why they pay you. I don't do my dream job,(rock star, I tried). But I am lucky to do something I am very good at, and work for a great Co.
