What are we all listening to now?
Over here is Tenebrae responses by Carlo Gesualdo di Venoza.

He was a minor prince in Italy, and so unlike most composers could write whatever he wanted (not having to please patrons). His music is therefore quite extraordinary especially for the time (these were composed 1611). He was generally ignored, though popularised (as a relative term) by Stravinsky.

Anybody interested in the development of music, or in renaissance polyphony really should listen to his stuff. It's glorious.

I always listen to Neil or a Neil project like Crowded House. It gives me comfort and solace, like a security blanket. Naturally with the coronation coming up next week, I'll be needing a lot of comfor and solace.

Your tastes might be more relaxing..But, my mood is more Steve Earle..Your are not outraged, you are not informed..Earle, the 'redneck radical' is well worth a good listening too.

But if the news doesn't cover it, I guess it doesn't matter, huh.

As for me... silence.

13. I occasionally listen to World Music
There's a B.B.C. Radio3 programme (Late Junction) which has the most eclectic play-lists I have ever seen - they use a fair ammount of world music. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/latejunction/index.shtml

The area seem to broad that I never know where to start if choosing for myself.

20. Radio Tarifa are very cool
I'm a big fan of the newer Spanish groups, like Ketama, Ojos de Brujo, Radio Tarifa, etc. The fusion of the old-style Flamenco rhythms, Arabic -sounding vocals and the modern beats is really wicked, IMHO.

If you've not heard it yet, pick up the "Bari" CD by Ojos de Brujo. They're a sort of hip-hop/flamenco rumba group, which features two flamenco guitarists AND two DJs, among other players. Very cool stuff.

19. My last MusicMatch Jukebox playlist:
First, three tunes recorded by my band eight years ago, and then:

Manfred Mann - Spirit In The Night
Ministry - We Believe
Front Line Assembly - Iceolate
Skinny Puppy - Warlock
Talk Talk - Talk Talk
Talk Talk - Mirror Man.mp3
Cocteau Twins - Pink Orange Red.mp3
Cocteau Twins - Fifty-Fifty Clown.mp3
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas.mp3
Cocteau Twins - Persephone.mp3
Cocteau Twins - Donimo.mp3

After that, probably some old Gang of Four followed by Paco de Lucia. It's a wacky music night.

*snippet*
Well I hope I'm not mistaken by the news I heard from waking
and it's hard to say I'm shaken, by the choices that I make
and well I find it hard to stay, with the words you say
Oh baby let me in
Well I'll choose this life I've taken, never mind the friends I'm making
And I get a little shaken, because I live my life like this
And well I find it hard to stay, with the words you say
Oh baby let me in
And you can cry all you want to, I don't care how much

You'll invest yourself in me, we're not working out
And you can't keep my brother, and you won't fuck my friends
and we're not working out, we're not working out
This time I mean it, never mind the times I've seen it

Never again, never again
Oh baby let me in, I'm knocking let me in

34. Coldplay: "Moses".
Come on now, don't you want to see,
This thing that's happening to me.
Like Moses has power over sea,
So you've got a power over me.

Come on now, don't you want to know,
How you are a refuge, somewhere I can go,
That you're air that, air that I can breathe.
You're my golden opportunity.

And oh, oh yes I would.
If I only could,
Then you know I would.
And baby I,
Oh baby I,
I wish.

Oh come on now, don't you want to see,
This thing that's happening to me.
I'll be waiting no matter what you say,
And I've been waiting for days and days and days.

And oh, oh yes I would.
If I only could,
Then you know I would.
And baby I,
Oh baby I,
I wish.
I wish,
To, to.

If the sky's going to fall down,
Let it fall on me.
If you're caught in a break down,
Let it break on me.
If the sky's going to fall down,
Let it fall on me.
If you're caught in a rain down,
You can rain on me.
Yeah you can rain on me.
Ah you can rain on me.
