Question for Firefox Users . . .
Is there a way to adjust the width of the address and search bars?

I know I can do it in Avant, but they don't seem to be adjustable in Firefox. Any ideas?

1. I don't know if you can or not, but just out of curiousity...
why do you want to?
Are you trying to make the search window bigger?

3. Exactly, it's only wide enough for about 2 words, and I often do searches
that are a couple of sentences :)

Not a big deal, just idle curiosity.

7. You can type beyond the displayed size of the search bar...
it just scrolls out of sight.
I know it's aggravating not to be able to see all that you've typed at a glance though.
I'm not sure if you can modify the size or not---sorry

8. Exactly, it is aggravating not to be able to see it while I type :)
I'm fairly sure that it's theme related, I'll just see what I can find about editing themes.

2. What build of Firefox
are you using? My address bar in 1.0 takes up more than 1/2 of the toolbar. The google bar is small but once you are in google you can use that search bar to edit or add text.

5. What theme are you using?
It appears, as far as I can tell, to be related to the theme.

With the themes I've found so far, it's less than 1/4 the width of the screen when I have the browser fullscreen.

It could be related to the fact that I'm running at 1280x1024 resolution as well.

A little "cartoon" like for my taste, but easy to look at :).

I'd been using Qute.

edit: Fixed reference to theme I'm using.

10. You can customize your toolbar.
Right click on one of the navigation buttons. You can add, subtract and move items. You can create a second toolbar for some of the stuff on it. You can also turn them on and off.

13. I'm fine with that part, but can you adjust the size of the
search and address window within that bar?

11. My question:
I like that "click" I got when I changed a page in IE, but FireFox doesn't have it. Is there a way to get the "click" back so I feel like I am accomplishing something when I surf the net?

15. Google this: firefox search bar width
You'll get a bunch of tips for how to change it. I haven't done it myself -- so good luck.

17. Yup, you were right, it's not an obvious fix, but it does exist.
It's not something your average user would want to deal with, as it requires editing a config file, etc.
