Alone again, natura-diddly. :(
No, my wife wasn't thrown over a NASCAR grandstand by a barrage of flying T-shirts. But my marriage is ending. She'll be moving to another city with the kids, and I'll stay in Rio. About 120 miles away, so it'll be easy to see the kids every weekend or so. We're parting in the most amicable way possible. I feel a disturbing mix of sadness and relief. 10 minutes ago, I ceasing using the ring. My finger feels funny. No, I'm fine, really. Why the hell am I posting about that in the Lounge? Sincerely, I haven't the foggiest.

I don't feel like ever marrying again. I'll probably move to a teeny tiny el cheapo apartment and live a life strikingly similar to that of a Buddhist monk, sans belief in reincarnation.

There are upsides. It's very possible I'll save enough money over, say, a year, to do some tourism. I'm itching to meet some DUers in person.

1. Oh, I'm so sorry Commie Pinko
 It's hard. But the fact that you say it's amicable is a good start.

4. The hard part is over
The instant I accepted the inevitable, I felt WAY better.

6. Sorry to hear that, CPD
Divorce can be a traumatic experience so take care of yourself.

I live like a Buddhist monk, too. That's probably because I am a Buddhist lay monk, but it has more to do with it than just that. I'm 32 and I've never been married. I've always enjoyed being single.

On piece of advice that I can give you, and I know it's unsolicited so please forgive me, is to be there for your kids as much as you can. I don't know how old they are, but they will probably be missing their daddy.

7. I do want to hear THAT advice as much as possible
No matter how convinced I am of its truth. It's too important.

10. In my first divorce, my weight dropped faster than a thread about Peruvian
politics in GD. I slowly gained weight and, over four years or so, came back to where I was before.

Which sucks. I wish I could have RETAINED that weight. I looked great.

11. I hate dancing. I hate heat. I hate sweating. I hate staying up all night.
I hate loud noises. (I think you caught the drift by now)

Yes, I'm bitter.

12. I've lived alone for 20 years
it is good and bad in equal measure. Sorry to hear that things have gone pear-shaped for you. Now what sensible advice can I impart? Hmmm...none really except to say that being single has huge advantages and huge disadvantages. Most important thing is to make sure you don't cut yourself off completely from company. It fucks your head up.

Good luck bro.
