Elton is the man.

Nice performance by Sarah Mclachlan too. I haven't caught all the performances on the telethon, I have been watching the game too.

3. I did too. Saw Elton in Memphis and he was incredible. Long
time ago. Listening to a little known work, 11-17-70 right now.

4. I saw him '86 at the Worcester Centrum and it was one of the best
concerts i've ever seen. I think i paid like $30 for the ticket which seemed high at the time, i can only imagine how much it would be now but it would still be well worth it.

6. When was that?
I like his earlier music better, like the early 70's stuff. What an amazing talent.

2. "Turn me loose, from your hands
and let me fly to distant lands" He did a lovely version of that song when he played in the former eastern bloc a while back. He also did a lovely Hank Williams song at the same concert; can't recall the title. ("Put your sweet voice a little closer to the phone" is part of the lyrics)

Honky Chateau", "Tumbleweed Connection", "Madman Across the Water"...all show Elton at his best. Like many ageing stars he became flabby in a musical context as the years went by.

Elton's early output was sheer class.

5. Elton is definitely a legend....I do wish they would
identify who is singing...I don't know who this fellow in the black suit with the red cross button on his lapel is. (grammer ick)

The Island Girl Tour...Kiki Dee was with him...more costume changes than I've ever seen for anyone...really rockin concert...

On edit:

I thought John Mayer did a good job, the rest of the show was kinda downbeat...Waters and Clapton were good...
