Ugh... telethon... Andy Garcia, hide the wine glass |
|
Geez... like "hollywood celebrities" don't have enough image problems as "chardonnay-sipping elitists".
They show the celebrity crowd answering phones.... Matt Damon has a bottle of water... next to him is Andy Garcia... with a nice glass of white wine.
Sheesh....

I didn't know that! Nor did I see the wine, I just have it on in the background. I hope Nelly donated a pretty penny since he has on about half a million dollars in diamonds. If not more. :eyes:

Like Bill Gates. People think he's great because he donated $3 million. Unfortunately, given his net worth, he donated 0.00006% of it. Now look at your net worth, give 0.00006% of it, and see if you're as revered by the sp00n-fed populace. (also consider your business practices and see if you're as viciously aggressive as that animal.)

10. Bill Gates and his wife |
|
have a foundation set up that is worth over 20 billion, yes billion, dollars to help third world countries fight diseases like tuberculosis and cholera. He definitely puts his money where his mouth is.

14. Indeed. There are a lot of reasons to hate Bill Gates, but |
|
his charity donation record isn't one of them. He gives a lot to charity, and has a lot of foundations.

to raise money for tsunami victims, then he should be in rehab.
It looks terrible, imo.

4. Still not as annoying as Drew Barrymore attempting to sound stoic |
|
something about her always annoys the hell out of me. It's not as bad when she talks naturally, like an airhead.

I have always liked her, even if she was slightly annoying. She seemed off tonight. Hey, at least they are doing something good right?

He has not forgiven JFK and the democratic party for not providing air support during the Bay of Pigs invasion in the early 1960s. It really pisses me off because I live in a Cuban neighborhood and have to see all their fucking Viva Bush stickers.

I'm not sure about Garcia being a Republican, but I do notice how most Cubans in America end up being hard-Right Republicans. I like Andy Garcia, nonetheless.
As far as the whole event goes, I'm not cynical. I'm taking these celebrities at their word. I respect most of them, anyway. I say, it's certainly for a good cause, and I honor that.

It looks horribly elitist and condescending. They can't deign to answer calls for two hours without a glass of wine... It's not a celebration or a party - they're making it a very somber, serious event, and rightly so.
I just think it looks awful.

But Nelly's diamonds really bugged me. I mean, his earrings were like the size of dice. Some celebrities are just off in their own little world and have no clue. You know? :eyes:
