1. And some folks...
Wonder why I am habitually single. :eyes:

Stuff like this is more common than is commonly discussed in gentile company. Sad to say.

2. I didn't get into it on the thread, but I have been victim of a VERY
similar scenario. The main difference was that I wasn't informed in advance that I was going to be some kind of third wheel. It was one of the worst things ever.

3. Let me just say this:
There are some forms of behavior that seem to be acceptable, in both long-standing and burgeoning relationships, that are extremely distressing and off-putting. Being a flaming heterosexual, I can only speak from my experiences as just that. So, while I am not indicting all women, I can say that there is a number of women out there who seem to think that certain things like good manners and common decency are both fungible and mutable.

I like to think of their technique as "romantic combat proctology". That said, I am goddamned sick of it and hence, am quite diffident about pursuing relationships.

Being a self-actualizing person of the new millenium should not necessarily embrace Alestair Crowley's shopworn phrase "Do What Thou Wilt is The Whole of The Law".

6. I've been there too-far too many times
There is a sizeable proportion of the population (my experience is with women) who simply see other people as accessories that give them attention. To a person like that, there are no standards for treating other people, because it's all about them.

10. You're SINGLE? Hmmm, What State Do You Live In?
;)

I hadn't seen that thread before but am moved to ponder why it is some of us habitually allow themselves to be attracted to not-nice-people and then complain that people are not nice...

5. I don't want to seem nosey but
I'd really like to know what Philosophy did last night. I went to bed early. I may have lost 20 bucks to someone, but I don't quite know who.

8. When people post their personal stuff online, rights against nosiness
have been forfeited somewhat... Certainly isn't bad manners to wonder about followup although no one is entitled...
