3. Seriously, I lived in the house where he lived in |
|
Lyndell Pennsylvania, where he lived in his last years, where he wrote most of his best songs. It is an old farmhouse built in 1750. I did not find any recordings there, but I found some old beer bottle caps under the floorboards.

His wife, Ingrid, now owns a restaurant in San Diego called Croce's. His son AJ is a recording artist in his own right.
Jim was a fantastic musician and an all around nice guy. His lead guitarist Maurie was also a wonderful musician. I often wonder what direction their music would have taken had they lived. Yet more musicians that died too young.

I've never tired of listening to Jim Croce. Haven't eaten at Croce's yet, but I've only been in SD now 3.5 years. I'll make it there before long.

7. Count one more here on the Croce fan list. |

I envy you your experience there in his old house.
Used to listen a lot to those first three albums. Have them saved on tape and still put them on from time to time.
"Lover's Cross" is a terrific song.

He was a little before my time, but my dad had an 8-track of him and as a kid, I used to listen all the time. I now have 3 Jim Croce CDs (which is only significant b/c the total CDs I own is less than 20)
My favorites: Rapid Roy Workin at the Car Wash Blues Which Way are you Going

I was in middle school and early HS when he was really big. I listened to his music for hours in my room.

15. Graduation memory of Jim. |
|
We had a choice of singing "I've Got A Name" by Croce, or Styx's second verse of "Come Sail Away."
We were out-voted by the "pretty people" in class, so we ended up with the Styx drivel.
We refused to sing it.

I saw him not long before he died. He was playing at my university and being a music major I knew my way around and managed to find my way on stage behind the boards to see the show. He seemed like such a kind man.
