Adventures in cleaning an eight year old's room |
|
I just finished in my daughter's room, and am now exhausted. She supposedly cleaned it, but as usual, I found tons of crap that she tried to hide. Why must my child put shredded pieces of paper under her dresser and in her dresser drawers? Why must she stash things that she knows I'm going to find? I've been laid up with my back for a while, and haven't had a chance to give it a good going through...what a mess!!!!!!!!

3. Well, she's always been a hoarding little klepto |
|
I found the remains of a bouncy ball that belonged to her brother in one of the drawers...I had to ask what it was...little pieces of rubber all over the drawer. She sees a therapist weekly, trying to make this stop.
Her dresser is white...with etchings in the sides that she did with a pipe cleaner...such a little artist! She destroys everything. Her grandma sat her down at Christmas and told her that if she destroys her new toys, she won't get anything next year.

Whatever day I call as "House Cleaning Day"...Saturday or Sunday. Last week, because of my back, I never made it there. She kills me! Little shreds of paper everywhere. WTF????

5. My daughter did the same thing at that age. |

I would find small pieces of paper all over her room, in the back of the car (the back seat ash-tray was full of them) and in the drawers of the computer desk.
I learned very quickly to put food and drink on the forbidden in room list and then learned how to just close the door. About once a month or so I take a peak and have a hairy clean up fit. Otherwise I don't worry about it any more.

Ah memories. My little girl is 33.
I once found a green fuzzy brownie under her bed. I think we could have dosed the whole block with penicilin from the growth on that brownie.
When she was around 12, Miz t. said "Either clean up your room or keep the door closed." I think the door stayed closed until she was 16.
