Poll question: Help me do my homework!
I have a government assignment to watch two TV news channels for three weeks and report on how they cover it. Needless to say, this includes bias. So, people can vote here for one network to watch and I'll use the top two finishers. Also, explain your answer. Not necessarily because it helps any, but I just like to talk.

4. Just observing that you really don't need to watch Faux to know
that everything they report is spun with a conservative bias. In fact, their mission statement once (I've never been able to find it after mid-2002 or so) contained something along the lines of "created to counter a percieved liberal bias in the media".

I'm guessing that they pulled it from public view about the time that people started asking how they could be "Fair and Balanced" when their stated purpose was to provide a conservative slant on the news. In a display of typical GOP responsibility, they hid their mission statement rather than dropping "FAB" or actually becoming "FAB"

7. CNN.

Extremely professional presentation, with brilliant graphics. A lot of star anchor-people: mad Larry King (a likeable rogue), Ralesa, Jim, some nice youngsters, nice finance people;

They are largely owned by Sheiks, and seem like the cuddly representatives of the CIA propaganda arm; a lot of serious news to cover, but it's been all the tsunami for weeks, and before that, Petersen. News management "par excellence";

They make token gestures to be "balanced", but come down heavily in favour of the neocons, at any half-important juncture;

They played a particularly despicable role in the hunting of President Clinton.

8. I agree...
Everyone knows Faux has a bias. It might be more "enlightening" for the people in your class to expose the golden child of cable news for what it really is...a RW shill

10. You are right. I change my vote.
Not Fox, that's too much a "gimmee". Too easy, and your teacher might expect a little more from you.

CNN and CBS? NBC? ABC? Any combo with CNN might give you enough contrast to do you good (in several ways) but you will need to watch a lot of it to be discerning. Your teacher will respect your insights.

Good assignment, and best of luck. I will expect a report on your results. 1/2 credit if it is late.;-)

9. Watch Fox
Does Brit Humes still have that show in the evening?. The segment called The News from the Political Grapevine usually includes little tidbits that make democrats look stupid, silly, and/or immoral. They hardly ever include any tidbits that would embarass republicans. The worse thing is that Brit is supposed to be the objective news reader. But at the end of the show he sits around with the panel and gives his opinion. He always sides with the Bush Administration. The panel usually includes Mort Kondrake a moderate who supports Bush, Fred Barnes a conservative who supports Bush, Brit who supports Bush, and Mara Liason who sometimes will meekly defend democrats.
