Mobile, Alabama...Where to stay, where to eat, gay bars........
What can you tell me? We are tentatively planning on spending 2-3 nights there in April to see the Dead Sea scrolls, "The Devonshire Inheritance", the USS Alabama (and the submarine) and Bellingrath Gardens.

1. I could be up for some of that.
I'm across the bay (and a little bit more) in Foley. I think we have at least one DUer in Mobile.
Got NO idea about gay bars in Mobile, but I'm guessing there are some. Google?
Gotta scoot right now, but pm me.
We'll talk.

6. Babe, there are gay bars in Jackson, Mississippi, strange as it sounds
I've been there. Actually, met my partner in one years ago.

Mobile is the most gay UNFRIENDLY town in America.

There is one gay bar on Conti Street called Troopers and it's about the size of my kitchen.

On the plus side, Bellingrath Gardens is really pretty.

4. Hmmm. Didn't know that.
It's a very artsy-fartsy town, as Miz t. says.
Actually Fairhope, just across the bay and a bit south is more artsy fartsy and might be a more pleasant place to stay. It's only about 20 minutes from Mobile.

5. I'm surprised...
I've been there once and had a grand ole' time. The strip down Dophine (spelling?) looks like quite the party place. The town seems to me a cross between Galveston, TX and New Orleans. But I don't really know the gay nightlife. I think you will have fun over there. Have a good trip ;)

7. The"gay bars" part is just my fantasy....The only time I can drag my guy
out is in New Orleans, and even that isn't guaranteed. At least he loves museums and restaurants and Democratic politics.
